Video Installation Demo: Installing vOPS in a Microsoft Hyper-V Environment

Installation Steps

Step 1: Download the VKernel appliance.

Note: the appliance comes in the form of a self-extracting EXE that contains the necessary VHD folders. Double-click on the downloaded EXE to extract the required files.

Step 2: Open the Microsoft Hyper-V Manager, right-click on the desired Hyper-V host and select Import Virtual Machine.

Step 3: The Import Virtual Machine dialog will open. Select Copy the virtual machine and press the Browse buttton.

Step 4: Browse to the location of the VHD directories extracted above. Click Select Folder.

Step 5: The Import Virtual Machine dialog will be shown with the selected folder. Click Import.

Step 6: The virtual machine will then be imported and will appear in the list of virtual machines for the host. Right click on the vOperations Suite virtual machine and select Settings.

Step 7: Select the appropriate Network Adapter. Click OK.

Step 8: Select the vOperations Suite virtual machine you just installed and click Start. Once the virtual machine is running, right click on the vOperations Suite virtual machine and select Connect.

Step 9: The console will open. Wait until the login prompt appears. Log in as root with password password and run the ifconfig command. By default, the virtual machine will use DHCP for the IP address. To set a static address, run the script /usr/local/vkernel/scripts/changeIp.sh. Follow the prompts to set the network address.

Step 10: Wait approximately five minutes for the server to initialize. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the virtual machine. Login with user name vkernel and password vkernel and follow the prompts.
