A system metrics‐based approach to detecting, diagnosing and resolving VMware performance issues

It is not uncommon for the first indication of a virtual machine performance indicator to be a call from an end user complaining of slow performance with their application or virtual desktop. Solving end user application issues quickly and efficiently requires knowledge of an environment’s applications, infrastructure, potential bottlenecks, and the common virtual machine performance problems. Being prepared and knowing what to look for can make the difference between solving a VM performance problem quickly and letting a performance problem bring down the entire virtual infrastructure.
