vOperations Suite Overview

Hyper-V and ESX capacity management in one solution

VKernel’s Microsoft Technology Integration

Microsoft is a technology partner of VKernel’s and virtualization-focused integration has been co-developed between both company’s products. VKernel vOperations Suite fully supports Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, and Red Hat RHEV (in Q4 2011) platforms and integrates with Microsoft System Center to provide a unified management solution for Microsoft, Red Hat and VMware environments.

VKernel Support for Hyper-V Capacity Management, Cost Optimization and Chargeback

VKernel vOperations Suite fully supports Microsoft Hyper-V to provide award-winning cost and capacity management for Hyper-V only and mixed hypervisor environments. The vOperations Suite installs as a single virtual appliance in VHD or VMDK VM format and provides a configurable management dashboard and four commercial products:

A 30 day free trial of the vOperations Suite is available for download here. The minimum requirements to install the vOperations Suite are:

  • 4 vCPUs
  • 8 GB of memory
  • 64 GB of storage space
  • VMware ESX 3.0 or vCenter 2.5 or higher (if installed as a VMDK)

VMware and Hyper-V Performance and Capacity Alerting into System Center

VKernel vOperations Suite features integration into Microsoft’s Systems Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and can be easily configured to send alerts to SCOM and PROtip alerts to Systems Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). These alerts include performance and capacity information for critical events that are occurring or are forecast to happen in a virtual environment, such as rapidly increasing memory utilization. This integration is accomplished with the use of Microsoft certified management packs that are auto-installed as part of the SCOM integration setup process.

With VKernel, Microsoft System Center customers can extend their existing solution to VMware, Red Hat (in Q4 2011) and Hyper-V environments to maximize their System Center investment and operational knowledge.
