Question: what's the composition of the latency values in StorageVIEW? Are they averaged over the update period or are they just-in-time values for the moment when they are retrieved?

Sebastian,
The latency values that StorageVIEW reports are averaged over the analysis period (30 minutes is the default value).

Thanks, Chris! Does this also apply to the values which are displayed right after startup?

Yes it does. We get past data when we do the initial collection and use the 30 minute averages for our data. _________________ Chris Chesley

Thanks again. I start to understand where those values come from and how they are composed (helpful read by Scott Drummonds Understanding VirtualCenter Performance Statistics).
Would be helpful for beginners to point out in StorageVIEW that the values are averaged (plus over which period). For example next to the heading "TOP FIVE HOST ....". Now that we spoke about it, it makes sense to me. When I first fired up the GUI it wasn't that clear.

Thanks for the input Sebastian. I agree with you and have passed this onto our product manager.
