VKernel Announces Its Collaboration with Red Hat Around Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization

Andover, Massachusetts, USA, August 15, 2011 — VKernel, the award-winning provider of enterprise-class performance and capacity management products for virtualized data centers and cloud environments, announced today plans to add support for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization to their industry-leading vOperations Suite™. Additionally, VKernel has announced it has joined the Open Virtualization Alliance (OVA), further supporting the company’s strategy of heterogeneous hypervisor support.

Enterprise use of multiple hypervisors is being driven many factors including:

• Operating systems that align more closely with specific hypervisors
• Applications that are certified to run only on specific hypervisors
• Hypervisor licensing models with dramatically different cost structures and models
• Data center consolidations
• Hybrid cloud adoptions

VKernel is committed to supporting multiple hypervisors and other virtualization platforms such as public cloud offerings in a manner that is completely transparent to virtualization administrators. Today’s announcement of collaboration with Red Hat and plans to support Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization adds to previously announced support for VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. Support for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is expected to be available in late 2011.

In addition to supporting Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, VKernel is also joining the Open Virtualization Alliance (OVA). The OVA is a consortium of companies committed to fostering the adoption of Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM). Created and governed by Red Hat, IBM, HP, and Intel, the OVA is designed to promote examples of customer successes, encourage interoperability, and accelerate the expansion of the ecosystem of third party solutions around KVM.
