Chief Executive Officer
A 20+ year high-tech veteran, Doug has extensive experience in building and scaling successful IT infrastructure management software companies. Doug comes to VKernel from storage management vendor Onaro where as CEO he led the company to profitably and its successful acquisition by NetApp in 2008. Prior to Onaro, Doug was EVP of Corporate Development and Sales at Motive leading it to over $90M in annual revenue and a successful IPO in 2004. Earlier, he led Tivoli Systems’ initial sales efforts in the US and EMEA growing annual revenues to over $250M leading to its successful IPO and acquisition by IBM. Doug started his career with General Electric and has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Vice President of Sales
Alan DiPietro is a seasoned veteran of venture-backed startups. Alan comes from LogMeIn where he was on the senior management team serving as VP eCommerce Sales. He previously served as VP North American Sales for LogMeIn, a role that was responsible for new customer acquisition, ongoing account management and worldwide renewal teams. Prior to LogMeIn, Mr. DiPietro was a member of the Sr. Management Team at FireStar Software, Inc., a software developer of EAI DB and XML messaging technology. Before FireStar, Alan was part of the founding team and Director of Acquisition Sales for Sage Networks (later renamed and taken public as Interliant). Mr. DiPietro holds dual BS degree in Marketing and Business Administration from Alfred University.
Vice President of Engineering
Dmitry has 18+ years of experience in Application, SaaS, Embedded Software Development. He also has extensive experience with managing multiple on and offshore teams across various Product development functions – Development, QA, Customer support, and Program management. Dmitry has a wide range of hands-on experience in various development methodologies - Agile, Scrum, Wagile, and XP. He comes to VKernel from Intralinks (IPO July 2010), a pioneer in SaaS Secure Document exchange market, where he was VP of Quality Assurance. Prior to that, Dmitry led Software development organization at Soapstone. Soapstone developed Management Resource and Service Control software that automated networking service lifecycle, deployment, and maintenance for large Enterprise customers and Telcos. Before that Dmitry’s held various leadership roles in software development organizations at Nortel, Bay Networks, and Wellfleet. Dmitry has a Computer Science degree with minor in Mathematics from Boston University.
Vice President of Product Management
A 25+ year high-tech veteran,
Eric brings extensive product management and technology development experience
to VKernel. Jackson joined VKernel from Lab Escape, a
private company that provides visual analytics solutions for large enterprises,
where he led
the
creation of application-specific solutions through deep customer collaboration.
Previously, Eric co-founded Ibrix, a venture-backed company offering scalable
file system solutions that was acquired by HP in 2009, and served as Vice President of
Products for XOsoft, a disaster recovery and high availability software firm
which was acquired by CA in 2006. Additionally, Eric is the inventor and
patent holder of several new technologies, including the Ibrix distributed file
system and innovative techniques for automated computer chip design
optimization.
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
As chief financial officer, Dan Kelly brings more than 25 years of corporate finance, strategic planning and management experience to VKernel. Most recently, Dan served as vice president and chief financial officer of geoVue, Inc, a venture-capital-funded software company that provides retail site planning solutions. Prior to joining geoVue, Dan was vice president and chief financial officer of Ecora Software, a privately held software company that provided configuration management solutions to more than 3,500 users. Prior to Ecora, Dan was VP Finance at Scribe Software, a VC-funded software company that provided migration and integration tools. Dan also has 7 years experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he provided audit and consulting services to a diverse group of clients, including private technology companies. Dan is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
Chief Marketing Officer
A 15+ year high-tech veteran, Bryan has spent the last 8 years working in server and storage companies focused on virtualization technologies. Semple comes to VKernel from NetApp (NASDAQ:NTAP) where he was the general manager of the storage virtualization business unit. Under his leadership, the group experienced record growth, expanded engineering operations to India, and built global awareness for NetApp’s industry leading storage virtualization solutions. Prior to NetApp, Bryan was VP of Marketing at Onaro where he established the company as a leader in storage management software and built the marketing processes that supported the company’s profitability and successful acquisition by NetApp in 2008. Before Onaro, Bryan was the VP of Product Marketing and Strategy at server blade virtualization pioneer Egenera. At Egenera, Bryan worked with early adopters of infrastructure and server virtualization technologies in the financial services industry as the company scaled from one to several hundred customers. Early career experience includes various sales and marketing management positions at FairMarket, Trellix and Sybase. Bryan holds a BS in Systems Engineering from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from Stanford University.
